You can do it if you want to, but you have to truly want it.
The art of supporting oneself from within, regulating emotions with calm and balance.
Qigong
🧘♂️Why Qigong on a website about BPD and recovery?
Qigong works where most crises begin:
in the body.
In rapid breathing.
In the tension accumulated in the chest.
In the surge of energy.
In the energy that either explodes or becomes blocked.
For years, practicing Qigong helped me lower emotional intensity, regain my center, and find stability when everything inside was shaking.
It's not magic.
It's physiology, awareness, and tradition.
Here I share the exercises from Master Lam Kam Chuen that were part of my process. They are simple, ancient, and powerful.
🟦 Description
Rooting is the basic standing posture that teaches the body how to stabilize without tension.
Feet shoulder-width apart, knees relaxed, spine long, shoulders soft.
You don’t try to “freeze” the body.
You let it settle.
Rooting helps with:
calming the mind
lowering anxiety
improving focus
grounding emotional energy
building inner stability
This is the foundation of all internal work in Qigong.
🟦 Explanation for people with BPD, anxiety or impulsivity:
When the mind is racing, the body can become your anchor.
This exercise teaches the nervous system that it doesn’t need to fight, run or explode.
You breathe.
You feel your feet.
You let the energy drop into your legs.
Your body calms before your mind does.
Practicing it a few minutes a day helps with:
impulsivity
anxiety spikes
overwhelming emotions
racing thoughts
physical tension
Simple. Powerful. Real.
🟦 Common mistakes & how to avoid them:
❌ Closing your eyes → ✔ keep them half-open
❌ Locking your knees → ✔ soften them
❌ Forcing your chest open → ✔ keep a natural spine
❌ Trying to breathe “perfectly” → ✔ breathe normally
❌ Expecting sensations → ✔ just stand, let the body work
🟦 Recommended duration:
2–5 minutes to start.
Build slowly.
